PilotE6B / WX app good for
A fellow pilot out of Boundary Bay, BC told me about this app and I had to give it a shot. Its well worth the two dollar price tag and super convenient having a flight computer and METAR/TAF on my phone. Not to mention how user friendly and well thought out the layout is. Will recommend to every pilot I know with an iPhone.
This app has all the functionality of an electronic E6B in a device you already have in your pocket. It is easier to use than any of the electronic E6Bs I have previously owned and it doesnt run through AAA batteries! I dont have to worry about converting between units before beginning my calculations or about hitting the wrong conversion button in turbulence.
This app also adds in weather. It also provides an accurate translation of both METARs & TAFs in addition to giving you the untranslated version. It remembers the more frequent station searches I like to use to check the weather around my home airport. The Crosshairs icon is a quick way to get the weather from the airports close to my location.
The double timer function with a current clock is also very easy to use. A single tap to change the clock from 12hr to 24hr or to Zulu time. Each Timer can either be set as a count-down timer or simply tap "Start" to begin a count-up stopwatch.
Overall this app continues the professional and functional design of the other Pilot apps by this developer.
As a Commercial Single & Multi Pilot who is currently working as a Chief Multi-Engine Instrument Flight Instructor I recommend this app for pilots of all levels.
Without a doubt the best iPhone E6B out there. This app is very versatile and capable. It can do pretty much anything you need done. Its fantastic for quick flight planning and is a life saver for inflight computations. You can get weather in both traditional and plain language format.
I especially love the W&B portion which comes in handy for last minute changes to aircraft loading. It will even compute %MAC and hydroplaning speed!!
It has great tools for conversions which come in handy when placing a fuel order in Canada (Imperial Gallons) or in the EU. Its packed with pretty much every tool you need.
As far as the interface and build, the app is really rock solid and very flexible. It loads fast and scrolls smooth. No crashing or jerking. It even offers you a choice of 3 different skins to customize the look of the E6B. All of the calculators are customizable, so you can choose to work in Knots, MPH, Feet per Minute, KPH, Meters per Second and Meters per Hour.
This is an app that will grow with you and the aircraft you fly. Great for Student Pilots and equally as great for Professional Line Pilots.

I have purchased all of CoDevelopers programs except the test preparation one. I have been thoroughly impressed with everything they have deployed because they make intuitive software that works as advertised, runs smoothly, and performs the task I need it to do.
CoDevelopers latest product is no exception - it has all the functions an aviator needs to have to calculate fuel burn, crosswind information, time-to-destination, true airspeed, density equations, et cetera. The interface is crisp and clean and laid out in a logical manner.
The one thing that really pushes this E6B calculator out in front of the others is the built-in METAR feature. This is quite handy when calculating pressure or desity altitude, or true airspeed, for example. Other programs dont offer that capability and unless you already know the required information, you would need to exit the app to retrieve the necessary data.
Worth every penny. I look forward to seeing what they will come up with next!
This is a really great E6B calculator. It has a very intuitive interface that is easy to learn. Its also flexible: Works just as well for high-speed, high-altitude aircraft as it does for the "low-and-slow" folks.
Its very accurate and adaptable to my needs: I can change units (like pounds instead of gallons) and it updates the results on the fly. (It knows the density of standard fuels, so it can do those gallons-to-pounds conversions; it also lets me change the fuel density if I need to for any reason.) And when I change the units, it remembers what I like, and uses those units in other functions.
Values are shared across functions, too, so that I can easily perform multi-function calculations. For example, to calculate density altitude, I enter indicated altitude, altimeter setting, and OAT. When I switch to the Actual True Airspeed function, those three numbers have carried over, saving me the trouble of entering them again.
If I accidently put in an impossible value (like a negative distance), it gives a warning so I can go back and see what I did wrong.
Even though I used to do flight planning with a handheld electronic E6B, Im a traditionalist, and I always preferred to have my old, manual, E6B in the cockpit. I really dont need it any more, because my iPod Touch is always in my pocket anyway, and now so is my E6B.
Starting with Codevelopers FAR/AIM app, Ive been so impressed with the quality of the software, the responsiveness of the developer and top-notch tech support that I have nearly all of Codevelopers apps. I was looking for a fast, direct flight computer app and this E6b app has exceeded my expectations. It does exactly what it should, easily and quickly.
The app is so quick to pull up and use-- both on the phone and iPad, that Im able to perform calculations I might otherwise not have time to do, especially when in flight where time is a scarce resource. I highly recommend all of Codevelopers applications. Get this app, and if you dont have them yet, buy his FAR/AIM app as well. Every flight instructor Ive shown these apps to has immediately purchased them. Thank you for making aviation safer and more enjoyable!
Some bad moments
App keeps crashing! Does not work longer than several seconds!
This application does not let you enter correctly the needed values to compute calculations. Cannot enter values with decimal points either. Im buying Sportys E6B. I want my money back!
Generally easy to use and I particularly like the timer function. However, the density altitude calculation does not include the dewpoint. This is a major error that needs to be fixed! The current calculation gives falsely low density altitudes which could be misleading! I will adjust my rating to four stars if they make the calculation more accurate.
compatable yes, but not ready for IPAD, dont waste your money. Probably looks great on an IPHONE.
This version has a horrible bug in it. Wind correction angles are flat out wrong.
